The University of Liverpool’s recently launched HistBEKE project is funded by Historic England, and has been set up to try and help everyone who works with the historic built environment to increase their knowledge and understanding of the assets that they work with.
The objective of the project is to create a research agenda and framework for the historic built environment which aims to:
• enhance decision-making processes through wider access to current knowledge
• set an agenda for further knowledge enhancement to enable more effective management and decision-making
• establish a sustainable and collaborative network to maintain the framework into the future
This is a collaborative project, and the team are keen to work with as many people and organisations as they can from across the sector. Their first task, however, is to find out what you already know, the kind of things you’re already working on, and your ideas and suggestions for what the framework and agenda might include.
To help them to do this, they have prepared a short online survey which is completely anonymous and should take just a few minutes to complete. The survey can be found here, and is open until the 25th of August: https://survey.liv.ac.uk/histbekesurvey
The results of the survey will help to define the themes and topics for discussion at regional focus group workshops that will be run as CPD days in the Autumn. These workshops will allow everyone to discuss in more detail what the framework might include and how it could work.
Further details will be posted on the project website (//www.histbeke.org) once they have been arranged, but in the meantime, please contact Stella Jackson (Stella.jackson@liverpool.ac.uk) if you would like to attend one of them, or have any questions about the project.
