Evening talk by Dr Ross Garden
Geologically, the original centre of Reading is sited at the confluence of the Kennet and Thames rivers on raised, well drained younger Thames river gravels. The local geology was inportant for the town; bricks might be considered the fourth B in association with beer, bulbs and biscuits.
We will see how the apparent unremarkable surface geoogy masks the evidence for a more complex and tempestuous history and how it impacted the town.
