Past Conferences

This is a list of past annual conferences of the AIA.

The table shows the Date and the Location and the Gazetteer when one was published.

Many Gazetteers and Conference Tour Notes have now been scanned and loaded onto the website.

The Tour Notes and Gazetteers are searchable, as is the whole site, by using the ‘magnifying glass’ in the top right of the screen.

( There are guidelines for those preparing Gazetteers: Download here )

Some Gazetteers are still available on paper; see our Sales page for further details.

There was no 2022 Conference but a long weekend of tours, led by the Merseyside Industrial Heritage Society, which were to have been included in the 2020 Conference took place over a long weekend in June 2022.

The 2021 Annual Conference was a virtual event held over a number of weekends in August and September in place of the physical conference which was originally scheduled to have been on Merseyside in 2020.

The sessions on the 7th August, 4th, 18th and 25th September were recorded and are now available via our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCILr2TkRAOIfk_NKchshwZQ

If you subscribe to the channel then you will be notified when new recordings are added.

The session on 11th September was not recorded at the speakers’ request but Anthony Clarke has supplied this summary of his presentation about the Archaeology of Albert Dock The Albert Dock AIA MIHS A Clarke
