Suffolk IAS – The Maritime Activities of R&W Paul
14 February 2024@19:30-20:30
An evening talk by Chris Turland
Chris returns with another presentation, this time on the fleet of the Ipswich malsters R&W Paul. Paul’s operated a large fleet of Thames barges until the very end of trading by this type of vessel. Even then, they retained one barge for hospitality until the costs of restoration resulted in its sale.
We are now able to meet in the ‘Savoy’, aka the Portabcabin, which is capable of being heated prior to the start of out meetings. It should thus be more comfortable in the winter months than the open space within the museum which we have used since the pandemic eased.
