Law and Practice in the Protection of Industrial Heritage in European Countries
This international conference is being organised by a coalition of heritage bodies in Poland: TICCIH Poland, National Heritage Institute, Foundation for the Protection of the Industrial Heritage of Silesia (with strong support from the Polish Government – Ministry of Culture and National Heritage). The event is also supported by various other organisations including WIMH Working Industrial & Mobile Heritage platform group.
The conference aims to be a forum for exchanging experiences and best practices regarding the preservation of technical monuments. Learning about local experiences can become a platform for establishing common principles for the research, recording and re-use of technical monuments. An objective will be to formulate basis principles for the protection of monuments on a European scale and identifying best practices for adapting technical monuments to new functions, ranging from industrial and mining locations through to heritage railways.
AIA members will be very welcome to take part. At the time of writing (June) final details of the full programme are still to be confirmed.
