The Fall and Rise of the River Gipping.
A visit this evening from the River Gipping Trust, who are committed to reviving the Stowmarket Navigation, which allowed the inland town to grow substantially in the 19th century and gave a boost to its industry.
Apologies for scheduling two inland waterway meetings in close succession, but it is a case of availability of speakers on the dates in question.
We are now able to meet in the ‘Savoy’, aka the Portabcabin, which is capable of being heated prior to the start of out meetings. It should thus be more comfortable in the winter months than the open space within the museum which we have used since the pandemic eased.
