Berkshire IAG – The Development, Non-Development and Redevelopment of Huntley & Palmers Biscuit Factory 1800-2000

January 17 @ 19:30 - 20:30 GMT

Free

Joe Doak will explore the processes through which the Huntley & Palmers Biscuit Factory was developed during the second half of the nineteenth century, how it was adapted during the early and mid-twentieth century and how it was redeveloped during the latter part of that century describing the creation, maintenance, redevelopment and non-development of the factory complex.

He will map-out a number of stages and identify a series of components which can help explain how Huntley & Palmers biscuit factory came into being, what effect it has had on the town of Reading and how key actors, ideas, relationships and ‘things’ shaped it’s development (and non-development) over the years.

Joe Doak is a Doctoral Researcher, Department of Real Estate & Planning, Henley Business School, University of Reading and Vice Chair & Social Media Manager, Dorchester Civic Society.

The event is open to all and free.
