A Celebration of Ray Riley’s Life & Work

Dockyard Maties, Portsmouth Maps & Corsets

On 28 March a group of friends and colleagues of the late Professor Ray Riley are holding a day of talks/lectures to celebrate his memory.

As you may know, Ray was an economic geographer and social historian with a passion for industrial archaeology.  He published widely, including on subjects such as the geography of defence, industrial archaeology, British dockyard technology and workforce, Portsmouth history and the economy of the Benelux countries and Poland.  The speakers will be speaking on just some aspects of his wide interests and research.

Ray organised a number of tours for the AIA including the one to Poland in 1976.
