AIA Creative Re-Use Seminar

October is the month of ‘Adaptive Re-use’ in the year of European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.

To celebrate, the AIA is hosting a seminar on creative and adaptive reuse of industrial buildings in the UK at the University of Salford. The day will include presentations from a number of successful and ongoing restoration projects, including the award-winning Clementhorpe Maltings, the Birmingham Coffin Works and Ditherington Flax Mill, followed by a facilitated afternoon round-table discussion on the challenges and opportunities posed by finding vibrant and creative new uses for former industrial buildings.

A buffet lunch and light refreshments are included in the ticket price.

Getting to the venue

The event is in the Peel Building at the University of Salford, originally the home of the Salford Royal Technical Institute. Car parking on the campus is limited and will incur a charge, however there are good public transport links. Salford Crescent station is located on the campus, and is only 10 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly. There are also regular buses from Manchester City Centre.
